What is the difference between Gold Plated, 14K Gold Vermeil, and Solid Gold?
Gold Plated ; A thin layer of gold (less than 0.5 microns) applied over a base metal such as copper or brass. The plating fades quickly over time with wear and skin contact.
14K or 18k Gold Vermeil:; A sterling silver 925 base coated with a thick gold plating of at least 2.5 microns. This is fine jewelry at its best durable, hypoallergenic, and far superior in quality to standard gold plating.
Solid Gold 14K or 18 k: Pure gold throughout the entire piece. The highest value, meant to be passed down from generation to generation.
